Jr. Prep moves to 4-0 - Beats Woodberry Forest
The Jr. Prep football team moves to 4-0 on the season after beating Woodberry Forest School on September 29th with a score of 32-0. The Blue Devil's swarming defense pitches their third consecutive shutout! Austin Stone, Mackenzie Sturtevant, and Gavin Marks all recorded one sack on the evening. Marks' sack led to a Matt Rude fumble recovery in the end zone. Who says a lineman can't score? Marshall Wiley added an interception giving him two on the year. The most important aspect on the offensive side of the ball is rhythm, and the offense had a difficult time getting their passing game going tonight. Although Kara Stewart continued to cut through the opposing defense, we still quite haven't put it all together...hard to believe! The next couple weeks should prove to be exciting as the offense continues to develop throughout the season. Stewart ran the ball 14 times for a whopping 280 yards, scoring on runs of 75, 74, 27, and 33 respectively! Jesse Schulze had 5 carries for 28 yards and Obiero Okeyo had 3 carries for 32 yards on the night. It is only fair to mention the lineman who have done a sensational job so far this season. A combination of the following guys: Rude, Brandon Dyer, Tevin McDowell, Paul Griswold, and John Alexander have helped produce 1076 yards of offense (922 rushing yards) and only have given up one sack on the season! Great job to the young men upfront. Look for a more in tune offense in the coming weeks...is this even possible? The Jr. Prep football team takes a 9 day break and returns to the gridiron on Thursday, October 8th, against St. Christopher's School at 4PM. Courtesy of Coach McCoy
