Jr. Prep Falls to Collegiate

Throughout the years, Collegiate has made a name for themselves using the spread offense. We had one objective for the game, force Collegiate to run the ball to win. The Blue Devils started the game very flat and spotted the Cougars 21 points in the 1st Quarter. The next three quarters were a little more reminiscent of this year's Jr. Prep football team. Once focused, the Blue Devil's swarming defense shut down Collegiate's passing game and forced them to run the ball. In the meantime, FUMA's offense started to get a little rhythm and by the time the horn sounded FUMA had cut the 21 point deficit to 7 points. FUMA's offense was on the field the majority of the 2nd half and put together a scoring drive that chewed up most of the 3rd quarter. FUMA punched in from the 7 yard line on the 2nd play of 4th quarter. After deciding to go for two and take the lead for the first time in the game, a perfectly executed option play gave FUMA the advantage 22-21. Collegiate came back with run and was successfully moving the ball down the field, but they caught our defense in a misalignment and capitalized on a deep passing route. Collegiate converted their two-point conversion putting them back on top 29-22. FUMA put together two more solid drives in the 4th quarter, but came away with no points. It was a tough loss for such an exciting football team. The Jr. Prep football players truly fight for one another and perform as a team! FUMA (6-1) travels to Benedictine, Thursday, October 29th in their final game of the season. Thank you for all your support throughout the season. We hope to see you one more time as we look to finish the season 7-1. Courtesy of Coach McCoy
