PG beats University of Maryland JV, 14-13
The FUMA postgraduate football team defeated the University of Maryland's JV team 14 to 13 on Monday October 26th. FUMA scored its first TD of the game on a two-yard run by RB Jasheer Bronson. The two-point conversion was caught by WR/DB Michael Davis. The offense started to gel in the 2nd half behind the dual QB tandem of Myles McKee and Carron McCluney as they guided the offense on an impressive 70 yard drive, which gave Fork Union the lead for good as RB Adaris Bellamy scatted in around left-end for an eight-yard TD run behind the lead block of OG Robert Lisowski and the rest of the FUMA offensive line. QB TJ Earley had one of the biggest plays of the game as he hit WR Jacquan Glover over the middle on a very crucial 4th down and four. Adding other key catches for FUMA were WR's Deon Miller, Tyler McDonald, and Branden Francis. The defense was led by corner Jerell McFadden's two pass break-ups and INT. Corner Miguel Marshall added two pass break-ups of his own as he jarred a Maryland TE and robbed him of a sure TD. Corner/Safety D'metrius Smith added the biggest pass break-up of the day as he batted down a 4th down pass attempt from Maryland with less than two minutes to go in the ballgame. Safeties Chris Mayo, Jamesen Kimbrough, and Andrew Opoku added some big hits of their own as they fitted in on the Maryland's run game. LB Trainer Fraiser added four tackles and two TFL's, MLB Marquis Spruill was the leading tackler has he notched 10 tackles and two for loss. Safety/OLB Chris Payne added six tackles and one for loss. The DL was led by DT Donte Rumph, DT/DE Travaughn Paschal, DE Curtis Robbins, and DT/DE Aaron Hush. FUMA's next contest will be a Halloween showdown in Mobile, Alabama vs. the University of South Alabama Jaguars. The game will take place a Ladd-Peebles Stadium, which plays host to the Senior Bowl and the GMAC Bowl each year. Kickoff is set for 4:00pm central time. Courtesy of Coach Mavrick
