Latrell Scott, FUMA '94, named Univ of Richmond head coach

Latrell Scott, FUMA '94, has been named the new head football coach at the University of Richmond. Scott played on FUMA's postgraduate football team in 93-94 and returned to Fork Union as an assistant coach under John Shuman after finishing his playing career at Hampton University. After gaining his first coaching experience with Coach Shuman, Scott went on to positions at Western Carolina, VMI, Richmond, Tennessee, and the University of Virginia. Following the firing of UVa coach Al Groh, and the hiring of Richmond's Mike London to fill his position, the University of Richmond decided to bring Latrell Scott, a Richmond native, back home where his success as a recruiting coordinator and wide receivers coach in 2005-2006 helped propel Richmond into FCS playoffs contention. Richmond won the FCS Championship last season under Mike London. FUMA's Coach John Shuman described the hiring of Scott as a "home run" for Richmond, in this article from the Richmond Times Dispatch.
