On November 10, 2007 the FUMA Debate Team traveled to Clover Hill High School for competition. Two teams competed in Public Forum Debate and one cadet competed in Declamation. None of the team members won trophies.
The teams of Alex Lee - Rob Rich and Jonathan Blair - Jake Hargrove competed in Public Forum and debated both sides of the resolution - That eliminating United States government budget deficits should be prioritized over increasing domestic spending.
Justin Gootee competed in Declamation and recited portions of General Douglas MacArthur's Farewell Speech given to the Corps of Cadets at West Point.

Debate Team
Last Friday Rob Courtney and David Arvelo travelled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to compete in the 2005 Grand National Tournament of the National Catholic Forensic League. At 8:00 on Saturday morning 214 high school students from across the nation were divided into eight Student Congress chambers -- and debate began.

Debate Team
On May 28-29, 2005 Dave Arvelo and Rob Courtney will compete at the 2005 Grand National Tournament of the National Catholic Forensic League. They will travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the competition and are two of six students who have been invited to compete in Student Congress from the Virginia Catholic Forensic League (Richmond Diosese).

Debate Team
Rob Courtney won his third Debate trophy during the 2004-2005 season at Saturday's tournament held at Meadowbrook High School. Students from twenty-two public and private schools competed in this tournament. Thirty-two students competed in Student Congress.
Rob has competed in three tournaments this year and has won a trophy at each one. Rob won third place in Student Congress at the December tournament, second place in Lincoln-Douglas Debate at the November tournament, and third place in Student Congress at the October tournament.

Debate Team
Two members of the 2004-2005 FUMA Debate Team have earned trophies and received invitations to compete at State Finals which will be held on March 5, 2005. Rob Courtney and Jeremy O'Sullivan have become Student Congress State Qualifiers and Rob has also become a State Qualifier in Lincoln-Douglas Debate. Rob won third place and Jeremy won fifth place in Student Congress. In Lincoln-Douglas Debate Rob debated the topic, "Resolved: The United States has a moral obligation to promote democratic ideals in other nations." He won second place.
