Joe Ehrmann to Speak at FUMA

Joe Ehrmann, an All-American football player at Syracuse University and professional football for 13 years, will address the Fork Union Military Academy Corps of Cadets on Wednesday, September 10th at 2:00 p.m. in the Wicker Chapel. His presentation will also be open to the community at 6:30 p.m. that same evening in the Beatty Library.

Mr. Ehrmann spent most of his professional football career with the Baltimore Colts. Following his football career, he matriculated at Dallas Theological Seminary and Westminster Theological Seminary where he was ordained in 1985. Starting in 1995, he became the Defensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach at Gilman School in Baltimore, where Parade Magazine found him and featured him on its cover as "The Most Important Coach in America" because of his ability to transform the culture of sports by reframing and redefining the social responsibility of coaches, parents, and players. He is also the subject of the New York Times bestseller Season of Life by Jeffrey Marx.

This dynamic speaker has visited FUMA before and is an inspiration for the cadets. The presentation is being sponsored jointly by the Payne Greater Issues Forum and the FUMA Parents' Association. He and his wife Paula founded Building Men and Women for Others as an organization to address issues of masculinity and femininity, and to redefine and reframe the social responsibility of sports, coaches, parents, and players, as well as addressing issues of violence and child advocacy. Mr. Ehrmann is also the co-founder of Baltimore's Ronald McDonald House, which has served over 35,000 families since its inception, and is a cause which has been adopted by FUMA cadets.

Mr. Ehrmann works with groups of people - young and old - to promote personal growth, teamwork, effectiveness, and individual responsibility. As a professional speaker, educator, trainer, and coach for over 25 years, Joe has become a champion of causes, change, and compassion. His life-changing seminars result from his own unique life experiences (including the death at too young an age of his brother who attended FUMA), practical strategies, and proven techniques.
