FUMA Supports Special Olympics

Fork Union Military Academy faculty, staff and cadets are teaming up this year with the Fluvanna County Sherriff's Department to help raise funds for Special Olympics. They will be participating in a Torch Run on Friday, June 6, 2008 which will be a nine mile stretch from Albemarle County to Louisa County. The cadets and staff have already started planning for the event. Bev Hanlin, Community Service Coordinator, is selling t-shirts to anyone interested in participating in the run. They are $12 each or 2 for $20. These funds will help support the team as they gather together to support the Special Olympics.

Friday, March 14th will be Special Olympics Day at FUMA. Students, faculty and staff who purchase shirts will wear them in the annual Corps Run before going home on spring leave. The ladies of FUMA will wear them to work on Friday in support of the event. We are proud to be a part of this very special organization.

Anyone interested in purchasing a t-shirt or participating in the run can contact Mrs. Hanlin at 434-842-4211 or email hanlinb@fuma.org. Checks can be made payable to Community Service.
