PG Football ends season strong against Hargrave

The FUMA PG Football team defeated Hargrave Military Academy 34 to 0 on November 2nd. FUMA set the tone early and often. Kicker Charlie Grandfield placed four perfectly spotted kickoffs to go along with a perfect 4-4 on extra points and 2-2 on field goal attempts. The offense and defense was lead by several outstanding individual efforts which culminated into a TEAM victory.

The defense was lead by Wiley Brown's two QB sacks, five tackles, and a fumble caused, which DE Donte Savage recovered for a FUMA touchdown (TD). The linebacker (LB) corps was led by Cory Reuzennar, Steve Brown, Varron Butts, and Jamie Veney who made stop after stop including two Tackles for Loss each. LB's Mike LaBarre and Nick Dottellis came off the bench and each contributed three tackles and one tackle for a loss.

The defensive backfield was led by Akeem Auguste's two interceptions and Tavieon Cuffee's one interception. Cornerback Eric Morrison added two tackles and a sack. Safety support was given by Dave Keisling, Antonio Allen, Wiley Brown, Josh Johnson, and Jamie Veney. Allen and Keisling combined for 12 tackles and one tackle for loss. Kiesling missed an opportunity for his 4th interception of the year with a beautiful break on a curl route in the 2nd quarter. Clyde Bruce also played lockdown coverage from his corner spot and added three tackles on the afternoon. All in all on the afternoon, the FUMA defense had six tackles for loss, four QB sacks, three interceptions, caused two fumbles, and recovered one for a TD. The defense surrendered only 84 yards rushing and 35 yards through the air. Asa Chapman, Lincoln Brian, Robert Torn, Pierre Fils, Donte Savage, Stefan Stringer, and Trezley Lockhart added big days from the Defensive line. Chapman added a tackle and loss, a QB sack, and three tackles. Brian added four tackles, Fils added three tackles and a QB sack, and Lockhart added a pass breakup.

The offense came out tough and finished tough. The ground game was led by Prince Young's 17 carries for 86 yards. Randall Toney, Jerome Ambrose, and Cedric Gonnett provided some big plays to support the offensive effort. QB Josh Johnson added a two yard touchdown run and a 8 yard TD pass to go along with his three tackles from his safety position. QB Alex Atiyeh also had a big day leading the FUMA offense. WR Keith Stroud had six catches for 62 yards and WR Anthony Rapley added a receiving touchdown.

It was a great, TEAM effort for the FUMA PG football team. Thanks to the many alumni, faculty, parents, and cadets for supporting our victory. The PG team finished the year 9-2. The annual FUMA football extravaganza will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday Dec. 4th in the Estes Athletic Center.
