Varsity Soccer ties Norfolk Academy
Going into Friday's match against Norfolk Academy the team knew it was going to be a tough outing. During the training sessions the team worked hard to learn a new tactical scheme to run against Norfolk. The sweat and hard work paid off. The players mounted a monumental defensive effort throughout the match holding Norfolk to one goal. Adding more fuel to the FUMA fire, David George turned a PK near the end of the first half. His efforts furthered the resolve of the squad to work together and shut the door on the Norfolk attackers.
The tying goal came in the second half off the boot of midfielder Mike Jewell, who placed a precision PK into the right side netting of Norfolk's goal.
Norfolk refused to roll over and pushed up high against us in an attempt to snatch the winning goal. They were repeatedly turned away by a defensive wall anchored by sweeper Justin Ives and David George. My congratulations to the entire squad on a job well done. Also, thanks to all the parents for their support this year.
