Middle School Mardi Gras Celebration
The Middle School French and Spanish classes observed Mardi Gras on Tuesday, February 20th with an after-dinner celebration in the Estes Dining Hall. The French students acted out the fable of the Crow and the Fox, as rhymed by La Fontaine. The Spanish class sang "La Bamba," made famous by Rudi Vallee. They also got together with Upper School language faculty and sang "A La Claire Fontaine," a traditional French song. The Dining Hall staff provided three beautiful platters of French petits fours, and faculty children in attendance did their part to add to the cheerfulness of the occasion.

The following morning, Lindsay Nolting (Middle School French & Art teacher) happened to snap a picture of some students as they reflected on their Mardi Gras effort. Pictured above Cadet Thomas 0'Connell with Ben Leonard (left). Cadet Leonard remarked after the photo was taken: "Ms. Nolting, for fourteen years, I have managed to keep my dignity, and now look what you have done!"
