FUMA Swimming - Close Contest against WFS

The FUMA Blue Devils were leading WFS after seven of twelve events on the strength of their Medley Relay win (Hatch, Brown, Gencavage, and McAfee) and individual wins by Blake McAfee (50 Freestyle) and Josh Brown (1M Diving), but could not hold on for the final win. In the end WFS depth proved to be too much for the Blue Devils, as they feel short 169.5 (WFS) to 142.5 (FUMA). There were several highlights on the FUMA side as Tim Jensen swam lifetime bests in the 200 and 500 Meter Freestyle events (2nd place in both), Jeremy Gencavage swam lifetime bests in the 200 Meter Individual Medley and 100 Meter Butterfly (2nd place in both), and McAfee picked up a second place finish in the 100 Meter Freestyle to go along with his win in the 50 Meter Freestyle.

Other notable swims came from Ryan Hedges who performed lifetime bests in the 50 and 100 Meter Freestyle (3rd and 4th place), Jason Able who performed lifetime bests in the 50 and 100 Meter Freestyle (5th and 3rd place), Bryan Halfpap who performed a lifetime best in the 100 Meter Breaststroke (2nd place), John Warren who performed a lifetime best in the 100 Meter Backstroke (4th place), and Doug Kavolius who performed a lifetime best in the 100 Meter Butterfly (4th place). Next up for the Blue Devils, a home meet against Virginia Episcopal School and Fluvanna County High School this Saturday, December 9th, at 1:00 PM.
