Ransone's Run a Success!

10:00AM
John Ransone, FUMA's longtime teacher and assistant track coach, is headed to Ragged Mountain Running Shop this morning to buy a pair of shoes. He will need a new pair once he arrives, you see, because Ransone is running the 37 miles between the gates of Fork Union Military Academy and the Charlottesville running shop.

Ransone's Run, as it is called on the commemorative t-shirts, is a fund-raising event to raise scholarship monies for FUMA students. John Ransone has collected pledges for the miles he will run and all proceeds will go to support the Academy's scholarships.

Starting from the main gate at FUMA, Ransone will run down Route 6 to Scottsville and then proceed north on Route 20 to Charlottesville, where he will make his way to the Ragged Mountain Running Shop. The distance of 37 miles is certainly a challenge, but Ransone is no stranger to distance running and has competed regularly in the Richmond Marathon for years.

Ransone expects to arrive at the store around 6:00pm this evening, having started at approximately 9:40am this morning. His support team includes FUMA track coach Winston Brown, fellow faculty member Melissa Barber, and FUMA track athlete Szymon Rola.

UPDATE @ 12:54PM
Coach Winston Brown reports that John Ransone is running strong, now about three miles north of Scottsville on Route 20. FUMA track athlete Jeremy Haney is currently running with Ranson. Melissa Barber started off the morning running about five miles alongside Ransone. FUMA track athlete Szymon Rola joined Ransone for about ten miles of the run. Ransone is making good time and could possible arrive at the Ragged Mountain Running Shop late this afternoon, perhaps as early as 4:00-4:30pm.
