Fork Union Aquatic Club Continues to Roll
Last week, November 4 to 5, Fork Union Aquatic Club swimmers competed in two separate invitational competitions at the Atlantic Coast Athletic Club, Midlothian, and the Regency Park Sports Center, Fredericksburg, Virginia. FUAC split up, sending its 13 and older swimmers to Fredericksburg, and its 12 and younger swimmers to Midlothian. Still results were outstanding as FUAC swimmers again brought home over 60 awards and recorded new team records in almost every event. Over 500 swimmers represented teams from central and northern Virginia at these competitions.
Individual awards in each event were given through 8th place. FUAC swimmers, Blake McAfee, Bryan Halfpap, Dillon Hatch, Aly Matheny, Leanna Knisley, and Lindsay Price brought home first place awards.
An incredible 18 FUAC swimmers including, Michelle Caron, Cameron Duchene, Bryan Halfpap, Tim Jensen, Josh Brown, Ryan Hedges, Jeremy Gencavage, Douglas Kavolius, Riley Phillips, Sito Arroyo, Maria Arroyo, Dillon Hatch, Callie Price, Katie Wilson, Luke Knisley, George Brumbaugh, Stephanie Nardone and Lindsay Price, brought home additional top eight honors. In the group relay events, the FUAC team brought home a top eight award in the Girls 11 and 12 Year Old 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (Wilson, Price Gardella, Shefski). Once again Dillon Hatch (14 years old) and Riley Phillips (13 years old) competed in the men's 15 and older 200 Yard Medley Relays at the Fredericksburg meet, where the relays would have place 1st and 3rd had they not been exhibition relays.
Next weekend, November 18 to 19, 23 FUAC swimmers will be competing at the SWAT Thanksgiving Invitational at Virginia Tech. FUAC also plans on attending the Gator Achiever Meet in Charlottesville on December 2nd and 3rd.
