16-time NCAA All American Swimmer to Speak at FUMA
NOTE: This event has been postponed to a future date.
A 16-time NCAA All-American swimmer, Byron Davis, is scheduled speak to the FUMA Corps of Cadets, faculty, and staff on November 28-29 as part of the Payne Forum speaker series. Davis holds the world record in the 50 meter butterfly, top 10 in the world in the 100 meter butterfly, and is member of the USA National Resident Team.
In 1996, Davis was three-tenths of a second shy of becoming the first African-American to make the Olympic team. He finished fourth in the 100m butterfly. He gave it another shot at the 2000 Olympic games. Although he no longer swims competitively, he still holds a passion for sailing and scuba diving. He currently is a successful businessman and enjoys spending time with his family.
Davis is scheduled to speak on Tuesday evening at the Wicker Chapel on the campus of Fork Union.
