Mental Errors Plague Jr. Prep Football

Mental errors plagued the Jr. Prep football team last night against Cosby High School (Chesterfield, VA). For the start of the game the Blue Devils plagued themselves with penalties, fumbles, and mistakes. The Blue Devils had no problem moving the ball during the game; however, three fumbles and a touchdown called back because of a penalty proved to be big plays that saw FUMA loose 6 to 8. The only score was by the quarterback Jahmeal Quarles-Belt on a 2 yard option in the third quarter. The 2 point conversion failed on a fumble. Offensive statistics included 30 carries for 111 yards and 2 of 8 passing for 6 yards, 1 INT, and 1 dropped pass. The offense totaled 117 yards on 38 plays in which 11 plays. The Blue Devils went backwards more than 100 yards due to mistakes, fumbles, and penalties.

The defense had another terrific performance only giving up one touchdown in the game. That score (Cosby) was set up by a Blue Devil fumble inside the 15 yard line.

The Jr. Prep football team plays St. Anne's Belfield (STAB) at STAB on Wednesday, 27 September 2006. Game time is scheduled for 6:00pm. Directions can be found under the Athletic section of the website.

Prep team plays host to Loyola-Blakefield today at 4:00pm. Come on out and watch!
