Cross Country On a Roll

FUMA Cross Country continued its winning ways this past Saturday by winning the 48th running of the William and Mary Invitational. The Blue Devils were lead by Axel Mostrag's 3rd place finish. Fork Union put on an outstanding display of team running as they finished five runners in one minute. Szymon Rola was 14th, Jeremy Haney 20th, David Johnson 21st and Jamie Reichlen was 31st to round out the scorers. Patrick Hayes and Caleb Haney also had great performances finishing 63rd and 91st respectively. There were 70 schools and over 2000 runners entered in the meet. Fork Union finished with a score of 89 while runner up Jamestown had 150 and John Handley finished third with 159. For a recap of photos go to www.fumatrack.com. Special thanks to David Fleenor, FUMA Class of 1988 for his coverage of FUMA track events.

Next up for the FUMA Harriers is a showdown at Maymont Park in the McDonald's Maymont Cross Country Festival this Saturday at 1:30 in Richmond, Va. Presently, FUMA ranks 4th in the Southeast region of the Nike Team Nationals poll. Should they finish the season in the top two they could earn a trip to the Nike Team Nationals in Portland, Oregon in December.

Two weeks ago the FUMA JV Cross Country team traveled to Woodberry Forest where newcomer Patrick Hayes easily won the JV Invitational in a time of 19:06.
