Science Grant Assistance Sought

Each year the Development Office submits a number of grant proposals to organizations and foundations to help support various initiatives on campus. Currently, the Academy is seeking grant monies to help renovate the science laboratories at the Academy, which have not been completely upgraded for a number of years. Scientific education is changing, and the Academy is determined to be able to offer its students the latest in technology and state-of-the-art equipment.

A number of companies support foundations which offer grant opportunities, but often the Academy would need to have an employee connection to the company in order to secure support. Some companies that have such foundations include Abbott Laboratories, Amgen, Bayer, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Hoffman-La Roche, Inc., Johnson & Johnson, Eli Lilly Co., Merck Co., Schering-Plough, and Wyeth Corporation.

If you are an employee of any of these companies who would be willing to support Fork Union Military Academy's grant application as an advocate for the Academy, please contact Cathy Hitchcock at 434/842-4227 or email hitchca@fuma.org. The Academy will supply grant proposals and letters of inquiry and would ask only your support in contacting the foundation on behalf of the Academy or simply allowing the Academy to use your name as a reference in the grant application.
