Debate Team Celebrates Successful Year
The Debate Team had another very successful year. The team was composed of Freshmen as well as returning cadets including two, David Arvelo and Rob Courtney, who competed in Student Congress at Nationals in Milwaukee, Wisconsin last May. This year David continued to compete in Student Congress and won a trophy for second or third place at every meet prior to the State Tournament. Rob Courtney, Justin Lane and David Arvelo were named State Qualifiers in Student Congress and competed with 17 other students as they tried to place among the top five and earn a chance to compete at Nationals this year in Chicago. David once again brought home a trophy. He won fourth place at the State Tournament and earned a chance to compete at Nationals in Chicago in May. David is the first FUMA cadet ever to qualify for Debate Nationals twice!
