Cadet John Hight adds new title to his resume....Hero
Cadet John Hight, a senior at Fork Union Military Academy, completed an arduous three-hour swim through open ocean this past Sunday night to reach shore and call for help to rescue his two friends who remained with their capsized boat until pulled to safety by the US Coast Guard.
Hight's mother credits his swim team experience as a boy with teaching him the breast stroke and his discipline learned at FUMA with giving him the strength to accomplish his feat.
"I think a lot of his officer's training came in handy yesterday," Judy Hight said. "He had to focus to swim that far."
