Military Ball 2005 to be held April 23, 2005

The Upper School will celebrate it's annual Military Ball Weekend the weekend of April 23rd. Cadets in grades 9-PG may attend and must register with members of the Quadrille Club. Full information on registration, costs, pictures, overnight passes, and the full weekend schedule follows:

REGISTRATION: Cadets (grade 9 - PG) planning to attend the Military Ball will register with members of the Quadrille Club in the back of the Commandants Department at the Guard Desk.

COST: $50 per couple. This fee will be taken out of the cadets' allowance accounts. The cost will include: admission into the Ball, corsage, glassware and picture frame for the date and glassware for the cadet. There will be no charge for the parents. Deadline for registration is April 15th. If a cadet is unable to attend, a refund will be provided prior to April 15th. Refunds will not be provided after April 15th.

OVERNIGHT: Cadets attending the Military Ball are eligible for an overnight pass from the conclusion of the Ball until 1:00 P.M. on Sunday April 24th. An adult over the age of 21 may sign out the cadet and one additional cadet for the overnight. Cadets signing out with the parent of another cadet must meet written permission and invitation requirements. Written permission and the invitation must be in the leave office no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22nd.

Cadets on probation are not permitted to attend the overnight.

Cadets traveling by limousine must be dropped off and picked up in the rear of the Estes Dining Hall. Entrance to the parking lot is on Rt. 15 across from the Fork Union Post Office. The adult signing the cadet(s) out for the night must ride in the limousine to their destination.

THEME: MARDI GRAS

GLASSWARE: Cadets will pick up all glassware from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday April 22nd in the rear of the Commandants Department.

DRESS: Cadets will wear white ducks, white long-sleeve shirt, battle-jacket, and black bow tie. Hats will NOT be worn. A cadet can pick up a bow tie at the Quartermaster. Only officers will be permitted to wear coatees. Dates formal dresses are to be presentable. Parents' wear is formal attire. Cadets will not be permitted at the Ball unless in the proper uniform.

PICTURES: Pictures will be taken in the Middle School Courtyard prior to the Ball from 4:00 p.m. until dark. At such time pictures will be taken in the Library. In the event of rain, pictures will be taken in the Dining Hall. Payment for all picture packets will be taken from the allowance account.

Package Prices:
1)Package 1 - $30 - one 8x10, two 5x7, twelve 2x3
2)Package 2 - $20 - two 5x7, eight 2x3
3)Package 3 - $10 - one 5x7, four 2x3

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Saturday, April 23rd, 2005
12:30pm Day passes begin
4:00pm until dark Pictures taken outside (weather permitting)
7:00pm All cadets attending the Ball must be checked in at the Dining Hall
7:30 to 9:00pm Inside pictures taken
7:00 to 11:00pm Military Ball (food will be served at the Ball)
8:30 to 9:15pm Introduction of Seniors and their date through Arch of Sabres
11:00pm Check out for overnight with Parents/Adult begins at the Dining Hall. Cadets on probation are not permitted to attend the overnight.
11:10pm to 12:00am Clean up / set up
11:30pm Cadets attending the Ball, not going on the over night, must be in their room.
12:00am Lights out for cadets attending the Ball not going on the overnight

Sunday April 24th, 2005
1:00pm all cadets checked in from overnight and day pass
1:30pm all cadets in their rooms
2:30pm First Call for the parade
