Cancer Awareness Day
On Monday, Feb. 21, 2005 at 2:30 PM we are going to observe Cancer Awareness Day. A number of our faculty, staff, their family members as well as student families have gone through surgeries, chemo and radiation treatments. They have been an inspiration to all of us as they dealt with this disease.
We want them to know that they are among the heroes and heroines of world. They have given us hope, courage and inspired us through their courage in dealing with cancer.
We all need to continue to keep them in our prayers and pray that one day there will be a cure.
So join us in front of Hatcher Hall as we give them a special treat and let them know how much we love them. The entire corps of cadets will honor them and a special balloon release from Fraley Circle will follow.
In case of inclement weather we will reschedule.

Getting Buzzed for Cancer Research

Faculty, staff, and cadets are getting buzzed for cancer research at FUMA. For a $5 donation towards cancer research, customers at the FUMA Barber Shop are receiving buzz cuts so they can look as good as the coolest guy in town, LTC Jim Akers.
Jim Akers, FUMA's longtime Director of Admissions, has been undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment for cancer since Christmas Day of 2004. Treatment has so far been effective and Jim remains in high spirits as always. Jim is returning to work soon and remains as vibrant as ever.
Jim and General Jackson recently posed wearing a couple of very attractive hairpieces. Faculty, staff, and cadets hope that this new look will not catch on, as even the buzzcuts are preferable to this!
