Prep Football defeats Heritage

Cadet Stephen Wilson contributes this report

On Friday, September 10, the prep football team had a strong showing, defeating Heritage High School 38-22. Fork Union came to play! The hits made by the Fork Union Blue Devils could be heard in the stands.

Headhunters on defense such as Curtis Powell, Dante Robinson, and Stephen Palmer made endless bone-crushing tackles. Heritage star player, number 8, became timid running to the Fork Union line. The defensive secondary of Fork Union shut down any hope Heritage had of completing any passes.

"The defense played nothing less than a spectacular game," Cadet Stephen Wilson stated after the game Friday night.

The offense also had an incredible game. Tyrone Wilson scored within seconds of the game starting. Then Brandon Caleb had an outstanding catch across the middle in which he scored in the second quarter. But none of this could have been accomplished without the outstanding performance by the linemen. Sam Ham stated, "Even though we did not have all of our guys there, we still got the job done!" Brandon Caleb added, "The offense played great but there is still more room for improvement."

Tyrone Wilson rushed for 229 yards on 12 carries for three touchdowns.

This year the Fork Union prep team stands out above any team I have ever played with. It is because we are a family. We take care of each other on and off the field. I am amazed at how through the good and the bad times our team turns to God for help. I consider it an honor to be a part of this team. To God be the glory!
