Jr. Prep Football team defeats Orange 27-13
By Cadet Matt Perry
With a 2 o'clock kickoff, The Junior Prep FUMA Blue Devils were set to square off against the Orange County High School Hornets. The Hornets were set to receive, and on their first drive, Mario Scott intercepts the ball, putting the Blue Devils on their own 38 Yard line. The Hornets never saw it coming.
The Fork Union Blue Devils had conjured a new type of offense that was unfamiliar to previous in the FUMA football program. It would be eloquently dubbed, "Air FUMA". On the first play FUMA would take the lead with a long pass to Mario Scott, who ran it in for a big TD. The air raid would not stop there. Scott would go on to score again with a similar play to the first, giving the Blue Devils a 14-0 lead going into the 2nd quarter. In the 2nd, number 25, Brandt Walker, rushes for a huge gain giving FUMA good field position, and making it easy for Michael Walker to run it in for a TD on the next play. Before the half, David Ware-Williams made an amazing catch, and then proceeded to break tackle after tackle in an amazing feat of strength. On the next play Howard made an easy catch, and ran it into the end zone uncontested.
Toward the end of the 3rd quarter, with a series of goal line pushes, preceded by a long offensive drive, the Hornets get on the board with 7. The Hornets struck again in the 4th, but it was too little, too late. The Game ended in a Blue Devil Victory with a final score of 27-13.
