Jacob Ruby (FUMA '10) to help represent "The World"

Jacob Ruby of Fork Union Military Academy to play in high school all-star game.FUMA senior offensive lineman, Jacob Ruby, has been selected as one of 90 players to participate in Saturday's "USA vs. The World" football game to be broadcast on the NFL Network. Ruby will be playing for "The World" as he is from Canada and came to FUMA to boost his chances for a football scholarship to college.

No Tysons Corner Kiosk On January 30th-31st

Due to the winter weather projected for the Virginia area, we are unable to staff the kiosk this weekend. We should be back in operation next weekend, with Dr. Grant, our Director of Guidance.

The National Weather Service is forecasting snow for the Fork Union area Friday night and Saturday. We are cancelling our open house scheduled for Saturday. We would be happy to schedule an alternate date and time for you to visit. To do so please call the admissions office at 434.842.4358.

Haitian relief offerings

Final tally on the Haitian relief efforts at FUMA: $1,021.52 through offerings to go to Samaritan's Purse and 25 boxes of clothes and shoes totaling over 850lbs sent to Harvest Mission America. The FUMA community really came through! May God bless these gifts for the comfort and healing of the Haitian people and relief workers.

FUMA cadets help Haiti

As part of FUMA's response to the disaster in Haiti: $1,021.52 was collected from the Upper and Middle School communities via a couple of chapel offerings and post-chapel donations. This total will be sent on Thursday to Samaritan's Purse to help with their relief efforts in Haiti. Samaritan's Purse was chosen because 100% of the money received for Haiti is used for relief efforts – none is used for administrative overhead.

MS Basketball Canceled for January 21

The middle school basketball game scheduled for January 21st has been canceled due to the threat of inclement weather.

Chapel message, 1/19/10

Today's chapel message dealt with the brevity of life, and our need to make the most of the life we've been given. Scripture used was James 4:14 and Proverbs 27:1-2. We also honored the memory of Gaines Adams (FUMA '03) with a moment of silence.

FUMA continues to offer H1N1 Vaccinations

Fork Union Military Academy will continue to offer free H1N1 vaccinations to the community. Last week the infirmary began administering shots to the general public on the followig days:

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - 1 to 3 PM
Saturday - 9 to 11 AM
Sunday - 1 to 3 PM

No appointment is necssary and the vaccination is on a first come, first served basis. Please note that no vaccinations will be available on Monday or Friday.

LTC Rob Feathers - FUMA Middle School Headmaster at the Kiosk Jan. 23rd and 24th

Januray 23rd and 24th, the kiosk at Tysons Corner Center will be staffed by Fork Union Military Academy's Middle School Headmaster, LTC Rob Feathers. Rob, who is a FUMA graduate, has been with the Academy for 16 years. During that time he has seen 3 son's graduate.

Rob's experience makes him and ideal person to speak with regarding both the middle and upper school programs.

We are currently accepting applications for the summer session as well as for the regular school year.

The FUMA Kisok is located in Tysons Corner Center, on the second floor outside of Macys.

This morning's offering collected $431.77 for Haiti. And that was with almost half the corps on leave. A few cadets offered to give their weekly allowances for this week after chapel as well. These guys are great! May God bless these offerings to tend to the needs of the people in Haiti.
