Final tally on the Haitian relief efforts at FUMA: $1,021.52 through offerings to go to Samaritan's Purse and 25 boxes of clothes and shoes totaling over 850lbs sent to Harvest Mission America. The FUMA community really came through! May God bless these gifts for the comfort and healing of the Haitian people and relief workers.
As part of FUMA's response to the disaster in Haiti: $1,021.52 was collected from the Upper and Middle School communities via a couple of chapel offerings and post-chapel donations. This total will be sent on Thursday to Samaritan's Purse to help with their relief efforts in Haiti. Samaritan's Purse was chosen because 100% of the money received for Haiti is used for relief efforts – none is used for administrative overhead.
The items collected include:

Dear Parents,
The middle school basketball game scheduled for January 21st has been canceled due to the threat of inclement weather.
Today's chapel message dealt with the brevity of life, and our need to make the most of the life we've been given. Scripture used was James 4:14 and Proverbs 27:1-2. We also honored the memory of Gaines Adams (FUMA '03) with a moment of silence.
Fork Union Military Academy will continue to offer free H1N1 vaccinations to the community. Last week the infirmary began administering shots to the general public on the followig days:
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - 1 to 3 PM
Saturday - 9 to 11 AM
Sunday - 1 to 3 PM
No appointment is necssary and the vaccination is on a first come, first served basis. Please note that no vaccinations will be available on Monday or Friday.
Januray 23rd and 24th, the kiosk at Tysons Corner Center will be staffed by Fork Union Military Academy's Middle School Headmaster, LTC Rob Feathers. Rob, who is a FUMA graduate, has been with the Academy for 16 years. During that time he has seen 3 son's graduate.
Rob's experience makes him and ideal person to speak with regarding both the middle and upper school programs.
We are currently accepting applications for the summer session as well as for the regular school year.
The FUMA Kisok is located in Tysons Corner Center, on the second floor outside of Macys.
This morning's offering collected $431.77 for Haiti. And that was with almost half the corps on leave. A few cadets offered to give their weekly allowances for this week after chapel as well. These guys are great! May God bless these offerings to tend to the needs of the people in Haiti.
