Senioritis

We have reached the time of the school year during which so called Senioritis strikes American high schools like an epidemic. Most seniors have been accepted into college and mailed their tuition deposit to the school of their choice and can often fall into a very casual attitude about their studies for the rest of the year. While FUMA is certainly not exempt from this type of attitude in some senior cadets, it is the other side of senioritis that is of equal concern. All seniors cadets are looking forward to graduation day with great anticipation and excitement.

Ms. Yonce our head nurse will be at the kiosk this weekend on Saturday. On Sunday, Ms. Tracy Kilpatrick, another of FUMA's nurses will be there. Please stop by and say hello if you are in the area. The Kiosk is located outside of Macy's on the 2nd floor of the mall.

Swine Flu Information

As you may have recently heard in the news, documented cases of swine flu have been identified within the United States. At this time, there are no documented cases in the state of Virginia. Fork Union Military Academy is currently working in conjunction with the local and district health departments to communicate guidelines and recommendations and make necessary preparations. Current information on the swine flu is available on the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) website http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu/index.htm.

There will be teachers, coaches and staff members available to answer your questions. The first presentation will begin at 10am and is repeated every 15 minutes or so. Tours follow the presentation. Summer School and ESL

If you are looking at FUMA for the fall, our summer session may be a good opportunity for your son to experience the academic and athletic riches of Fork Union before the regular school year begins. The main difference between the summer and regular sessions is that we do not wear the military uniform. Instead, our students wear khaki shorts and a Fork Union polo shirt. There are many academic and athletic options avialable, along with our supervised study period each night.
