Registrar

Fork Union Military Academy is in search of an exceptional individual qualified to serve as our next Registrar.  The Registrar is part of a team charged with overseeing the Academic Program of the school, and will report directly to the Academic Dean. 

The Registrar’s primary job responsibilities include:

  • Closely overseeing the creation of student transcripts for incoming Cadets
  • Regularly reviewing the academic progress of current Cadets to ensure appropriateness of course selection and accuracy of grade point average
  • Verifying the qualifications of each senior to ensure they have satisfied graduation requirements
  • Assisting the members of the senior class with such things as ordering graduation announcements and invitations
  • Assisting Cadets with the acquisition and distribution of class rings
  • Managing the Academy’s inventory of textbooks
  • Making the daily morning and afternoon announcements in the Upper School
  • Maintaining accurate historical academic records for all students and graduates, and furnishing and distributing those records when necessary
  • Overseeing the preparations for Parents Weekend activities as it relates to the Academic program
  • Overseeing the preparations for the various academic award ceremonies held annually
  • Overseeing the logistical preparations for the Upper School graduation ceremony
  • Supporting the various events that occur on campus annually
  • Managing the Academy’s academic database, and working with faculty to ensure timely submission of grades

The Registrar’s position is a 12 month position which will require some weekend and after-hours work.

 English, Upper School

Fork Union Military Academy is seeking to hire an English teacher in our English Department for the 2014-2015 school year.  Successful candidates will hold a BS or BA from an accredited college or university, and possess appropriate content knowledge.  This position requires supervisory duties outside the classroom which may be filled through coaching or sponsoring other activities as assigned.  Though not required for consideration, preference will be given to candidates possessing teacher licensure and classroom experience.

Benefits include a competitive salary, retirement, health and life insurance, possible housing and utilities, meals, and uniforms.

Fork Union Military Academy is a fully accredited boys’ boarding school located in historic Fluvanna County, between Charlottesville and Richmond, Virginia.  The Academy offers our students a college preparatory curriculum while teaching Christian values in a military-style environment.  Our typical student body is comprised of 450 boys from more than 30 states and 15 foreign countries in grades 6-12.

 Science, Middle School

The Middle School of Fork Union Military Academy is seeking teacher candidates for a science position for the upcoming 2014-2015 school year.  This position involves other supervisory duties, as well.  Candidates must also be willing to coach two seasons of athletics.  Preference will be given to candidates possessing teacher licensure and classroom experience. 

Salary and benefits are negotiated with the President of the Academy, but include possible housing and utilities, and meals. 

Fork Union Military Academy is located in the center of the state of Virginia in Fluvanna County.  It is located between Charlottesville and Richmond.  The Academy, founded in 1898, is a Christian male boarding school that attracts students from more than 30 states and 15 foreign countries.  The average enrollment in grades 6 through 12 (and including a post-graduate year of study) is 450, with 375 in the Upper School and 75 in the Middle School.

The Academy is affiliated with the Baptist General Association of Virginia and is accredited by the Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS).
