FUMA Compliance Mission Statement
The mission of the Compliance Department is to ensure that Fork Union Military Academy (FUMA) complies with the mission and intent of the school, the Virginia Prep League, and the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA). FUMA's Compliance Department will make an attempt to provide each cadet interested in participating in post-secondary athletics the opportunity to ensure athletic eligibility for entrance into the post-secondary institution of his choice. Honest, integrity and accurace of interpretations are our highest priorities.

This link will provide you the PSA (Prospective Student-Athlete) and or Parent with a truly 'quick reference' document on what your son will need to play a NCAA sanctioned sport at either the D-I (FBS), D-IAA (FCS) or D-II level. Please pay particular attention to the change in the number of core-courses that will be required at the D-II level beginning Aug. 1, 2013 and the new sliding-scale and core-courses that will now be "locked" in. This new D-I sliding-scale and "lock" on core-courses will take place for PSA's enrolling after Aug. 1, 2015.

This link will allow you to access your current or past High School’s list of courses that have been approved by the NCAA to be used in figuring your son’s core-GPA.
NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) Eligibility Center website:

The NAIA is very similar to NCAA Division II schools. NAIA institutions do offer an opportunity for athletic scholarships and they vary from school to school. The requirements are different than that of their NCAA counter-part.

Note from FUMA’s Compliance Dept:
As you can see there are many items that need attention when seeking certification to play an athletic sport at the collegiate level. The most important items that can help “speed” up the process for us are providing any login (username/passwords) info associated with any collegeboard, actstudent, NCAA or NAIA accounts. This will allow us to keep up-to-date and monitor his progress towards meeting a specific certification.
