FUMA wins Virginia Independent High School State Swimming Championships

MANASSAS, Virginia, February 23. Fork Union Military Academy won the Virginia Independent High School State Championships. Fork Union Military Academy won with 423 points, Collegiate School took second (312) and Woodberry Forest placed third(253).

Young Men's Results

Fork Union Military Academy won two of three relays. Tony Romanini, Blake Sundel, Jorah Gebert, and Jake Humphrey set a meet record in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:34.48. Romanini also won the 200 IM in 1:53.25.

Jameson Hill (Seton School) won the 200 (1:38.81) and 500 freestyles. He set a meet record in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:28.82.

Woodberry Forest's Zach Ingold was a dual event winner in the 50 and 100 (45.36) freestyles. He set a meet record in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.65. The previous record (20.77) was set last year by Collegiate's Stuart Ferguson.

Sundel, Matt Morio, Humphrey, and Romanini won the 200 freestyle relay (1:25.57).

Top finishers in the diving competition include James Ross (Collegiate School) (453.35), Mike Bedford (Norfolk Academy) (299.70), and Steve Ebeling (Trinity Episcopal School) (247.80).

Collegiate's Thomas Stephens won the 100 butterfly with a time of 50.40. He teamed up with West Cuthbert, Peter Ferguson and Wil Coor for a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:10.11).
