Considering FUMA for our son
Fri, 06/12/2009 - 1:01pm
We have a rising freshman and are considering the idea of sending him to FUMA. I would be so thankful to hear from any parents who have their boys at FUMA. We would like to know why you chose to send your son to FUMA. We would also love to hear any stories that will give us both positive and negative aspects of the decision you have made. Thanks so much!

Hi Go2Fuma,
I was just browsing the 411 and saw your post. I am the mother of a cadet that just graduated with the class of 2009. First of all, congrats on thinking about sending your son to FUMA. My son was there for 4 1/2 years and grew tremendously. I am not saying it won't be hard, it will. The first two years were adjustment to the structure and discipline FUMA brings to the table, but if you stick with it you will find it was a good decision. FUMA gives the young men a chance to focus on academics without the pressure of outside influences. Of couse as in any school there will be disagreements between classmates, etc but at FUMA at a much lower level than public school. There are plenty of extra after school activites for you son to join as well.
My son left FUMA in good academic standing and is heading to college on a football scholarship. He admitted to me (after all was said and done of course :D that FUMA allowed him to grow academically.
Hope this helps and good luck to you and your son.
