You might want to send an email to the Assistant Commandant, MAJ Al Williamson ( williama@fuma.org ) as he is the point person in charge of travel arrangements, and copy the Commandant's Secretary, Mrs. Betsy Ivens ( ivensb@fuma.org ). They can give you the best information and reassurance.

Flight cancellations, delays, etc. are not uncommon and our folks have a great deal of experience in helping cadets get safely back to campus.

Not to sound snotty, I was always told there was no excuse for not getting back on time.

I remember another cadet asked what if you were dead when not returning on time from leave and a PG remarked "No excuse".

It's a crock. My home was in Alaska the 4 years I attended FUMA. I went home For Christmas and summer, and a couple of times for Spring Break. Of all my trips to and from I only had one instance when we were leaving AK and got delayed. All of my flights leaving left me a 6 hour window of arriving in Richmond airport before the bus left. (Enough time to have a delay and still change clothes in the bathroom before jumping on the bus.) This one delay cascaded into arriving in Richmond a good 4 hours after the bus left. I got in checked in and had the required stick the following morning on the green sheet. Went in and was excused.

As much as people say or think the commandants dept is full of heartless people, they do understand that not everything goes to plan and that all in all, there are worse things.
