And if you have to have them at this point i time is there any chance that they will change those rules in the next couple of years???

Thank you Capt. Dan...
That helped very much...
What i i was just confused because the Fishburne site said this:

Quote:
It is your right to waive your son’s immunizations for medical, religious or personal reasons, but you must sign the appropriate waiver for his file.

But the Virginia law ony says:

Quote:
No certificate of immunization shall be required for the admission to school of any student if (i) the student or his parent submits an affidavit to the admitting official stating that the administration of immunizing agents conflicts with the student's religious tenets or practices

So thank you again Capt. Dan

Future cadet, the requirements for immunization of students does not come from a particular school policy, but rather from the state law. Fishburne is governed by the same state law as Fork Union and every other school.

Immunizations for school students are required by the Code of Virginia in Title 22.1, Chapter 14. The law spells out that all students must be immunized except for specific exemption requirements that must be met in certain specific cases.

You can learn about the immunization requirements in the Code of Virginia at this web site:

I was wondering if there is a waver that you can sign so that you don't have to get the vaccines??? Cause i know that if you go to Fishburne you can sign you if it goes against your Religious, or Personal Beliefs...
Thanks Future Cadet
P.S. My battle to go to FUMA is going well...

Hi Future Cadet:

Unfortunately Yes. You have to have all the vaccinations you mentioned and each year upon enrollment, a new medical form is required before you can reside in the barracks. Flu shots are also administered while attending FUMA, unless your parents opt out. FUMA takes every cadets safety very seriously and vaccinations are only a small part of what the staff at FUMA does to ensure cadets are safe.

As far as your parents ~ have you asked them to visit the campus? You can call the admissions office and schedule a tour of the facility. The protocol is you would meet with an Admissions Advisor and then a cadet would escort you and your family around campus. The cadet escort will answer any and all questions that you or your parents may have about the school. What the cadet doesn't cover, the Admissions Advisor probably already did.

Also, before that, perhaps you could order the information packet that includes a DVD. Pop some popcorn and plug in the FUMA DVD and ask your parents to join you!! The admissions packet can be ordered on this website under the admissions tab.

FUMA is always around the state and abroad holding Admission Fairs. The schedule is on the home page of the website. If your parents are opposed to scheduling a tour, arrange a visit to a mall or restaurant that is near one of the admission fairs and ask them to stop and listen.

Hope these help you in your endeavor to attend FUMA!! Best of luck to you.
