Early Acceptance College Admissions
Our son, Wooten Zervos '09 recieved his acceptance letter to the Citadel yesterday morning in the mail!!! Thanks to FUMA for preparing him! Because he is at preseason FB we didn't get to actually tell him...so I fax'd the letter to Coach Sullivan and he told him this am! We are proud of him! Sallie Vee Zervos
Congratulations that is wonderful news...
I bet he is thrilled
Capt. Dan:
Send this young man a list of scholarships he might qualify for. Working scholarships. It was waiters and maintenance type jobs around the campus during my days at FUMA. Not just during these times but any time the tuition is dear.

I worked as an assistant to Mrs. Faix and Mrs. Aasen in the library for two of my four years at FUMA. I enjoyed it. It helped knock some $$$ of tuition, I memorized the Dewey Decimal system (to this day I still amaze people with that), and it got me out of Guard Duty a few times. There were other cadets that worked in the Quartermaster, pressed pants, and worked in the Dining Hall. We didn't have waiters but some cadets did work in the back washing trays and helping serve.
I enjoyed my scholarship job. It helped to reinforce that hard work brought rewards. That and missing out on Guard Duty. I hated Guard Duty, especially after I made Sergeant as the NCO of the Day would have to spend the night in the Guard Room which meant you had to strip your bed for the night and pray your roommate straightened your gear the next morning back in the barracks.
Hi, Sallie and Michael,
Congratulations on Wooten's acceptance to The Citadel! Great School.

We just recieved a letter from the Citadel's Financial Aid department and Wooten qualified for the S.C. Life Scholarship (SAT>1200 and Cum. GPA 3.0). This is $5000.00 for next yr!!! Thank you FUMA...this would not have happened without FUMA support, structure, and discipline! S.Vee
Congratulations to you and your son. You must be so proud. FUMA is a wonderful place.
Our oldest senior, was sent by the Citadel for baseball. He has recieved full scholarship offers for baseball since he has been there. I have three boys there all in upper school 2 in alpha and 1 on charlie. 18,16,14 We are the only family with three boys. My senior is waiting to hear on his Naval Academy appointment from SC>
I have two that are there for football, 14 year old was 320, working him out for college ball...he wants to go to VT life long dream.
16 year old just decided to go there Nov. He realized he was going to be left behind, if he did not go....he is running track, which he would have never done, where he was....he actually has speed, which was news to us. College Football is now an option.
So, needless to say, we have drank of the "FUMA cool-aid" and our sacrifices for these boys, and the results we are seeing in them are tremendous....
We could go on and on about the success story our sons are...there at the school......
Full Scholarships are well worth the sacrifice upfront!! It is just a shame, our little home town school did not know the talent they had!!!
I do have to give a shout out to Sargent Major Sidwell, He has two of my boys, and he has been fantastic...for them !!!!!!
