Still crazy after all these years?
Sat, 04/05/2008 - 12:18pm
I just read McCord's post about wargaming and it made me wonder what we're all still doing today that we did then.
For me, the music hasn't changed that much, though it's easier to keep everything on an I-pod instead of dozens of cassette tapes. In fact, I downloaded Rush's CARESS of STEEL the other night, making it about the fifth time I've paid to own that particular album.
I still enjoy history, though haven't wargamed/board gamed in about twelve years. And I can thank Dennis Brown for introducing me to true literature, which I still enjoy (I even have a copy of THE MAYOR of CASTERBRIDGE that I read every couple of years in celebration of Dennis' class).
So, what say you?

Well, I still play wargames from time to time, though not with the regularity that I did back then. I combined my love of making and painting models with my wargaming when I found miniatures.
I still enjoy music, though my tastes have changed. I listen to Celtic folk music rather than Billy Idol these days.
Captain Hitchcock turned me on to history and now I study medieval history. I also joined a re-enactment group for same.

On the continuing road to berd-dom, I downloaded Rush's HEMISPHERES from i-tunes and bought a book on the history of salt today. Could be worse: thanks to FUMA I avoided criminal behaviors and illicit drug use. You will always have my gratitude for that.
