Does everyone still remember their laundry number? And writing it on every piece of clothing you owned? I was at my mom's house the other day, and went to grab a rag, and found an old white towl, now yellowish brown, and worn through in spots... but unfaded was the black lettering which tatooed my ownership upon it.

Very strange how things were drilled into us( no pun intended). Mine was 531, all through my four years at FUMA. Graduated in '55. Remember my service # from the Navy ( before SS#'s were used) Sorry, can't remember my rifle #.

Cheers

I cannot forget that number even 36 years later I will not write it down, for anyone. It is my PIN number in some very confidential stuff. It does not follow any pattern of birthday, kids, scheme, or anything etc. I was not married at the time and no one knows that number but me. It has a Prefix related to FUMA and then my Laundry number, only I know.

I spent 7 years at FUMA and remember having to write that number on everything. I actually still use that number from time to time.

I have my old footlocker in my basement with old company pictures from 1974 and the stamping kit, which is still in the box that we got them in, my kids have ask me about it and I just laugh. The footlocker still has the tape across the top identifying who it belongs too. :D

Hey John, definately an alphabetical thing. J93 here. I actually still have a Junior School Laundry bag, with the 'roided out' safety pin. It is hanging in my garage holding old rags.

It is not the mistakes you make in life that define who you are...it is what you gain from the experience that does. Jack Robert Munsey Class of '88, FUMA 81-85.

I'm changing my pin right away...
My old Jr School number is safe because pins usually have to be at least 4 characters long so J89 is too short.

I still have my old footlocker and it still has the laundry number. It was when they got rid of the magic markers and those old pens that you had to "pump" the plunger to get the ink to flow..they went to "stamps". 2900...maybe that should be my next tattoo
