I am mentor for a young man in my community named Cordero. The young man just turned 16 and is the tenth grade; however, he does not attend school like he is suppose to, and his mother does not seem to make him go to school on a daily basis. :( Cordero seems to be a good kid and but he is not being cared for properly. Cordero is a really good basketball player and if he went to high school he would probably be playing JV or Varsity ball. I am really trying to help this kid, and I want him to go to his high school here in alexandria before I tried to get him in Fork Union. I guess I just need to hear some advice along with my own thinking on this matter. His mom said it would be okay if he went to FUMA, but one thing (the money issue). How much would he be able to get and so on? [/b][/list]

Thank you for your email. What a wonderful service you are performing as Cordero's mentor.
I can tell you that I get many calls a day regarding young men in situations similar to Cordero. Young men that probably have the potential, but fail to recognize the importance of going to school and getting good grades.
Fork Union has helped so many young men realize their potential. It is so amazing to watch them grow up and have a lot more doors opened to them because of their persistence in working the program.
The price for last fall (2004) until May (2005) school year was $23,000. This price includes everything....room, board, books, uniforms etc. We also have rolling enrollment throughout the school year for both the upper and middle school. There is a price reduction based on the term in which you enroll. Prices for this next fall (2005) will be set sometime in March. Please feel to call me if you have other questions. I can be reached Mon-Fri from 8:30am until 4:30pm. (434-842-4202)
Thank you again.
