Capital Projects

Capital projects are fixed assets such as land, buildings, and other physical plants or equipment. An institution the size of Fork Union Military Academy on over 1,000 acres is continually in need of improvement to its campus grounds and buildings. Since 1898, the campus has grown tremendously from operating in one rented house to nearly two dozen buildings, plus faculty housing, today.

Capital project funds are constantly needed to assist in the maintenance of these facilities. Over the past two decades, capital project donations have helped build many new facilities at Fork Union Military Academy. Below is a list of some of these additions:

  • Dorothy Thomasson Estes Dining Hall
  • Estes Athletic Facility
  • Guy E. Beatty Library
  • Sabre Shop
  • Yeatman Infirmary
  • Wicker Science Building
  • Aquatic Center

Although this list is not comprehensive, it demonstrates the constant need to maintain capital funds to help secure these projects and improve campus life at the Academy.

To find out more about how you can help with a capital project on campus, contact Bobby Cobb, Executive Director of Development, at 434/842-4371 or email cobbr@fuma.org.
