Guidance

Season is half over

October - December is considered the primary college application season for seniors. Thus mid-November marks the half way point in this difficult and at times stressful process. Parents are encouraged to check with their senior cadet to encourage the timely completion of their applications. While many colleges have deadlines in February or even later, we strongly suggest that all applications be complete prior to Christmas.

SAT - The Scholastic Aptitude Test

Today marks the first SAT administration of the 2008-2009 school year. Guidance Dept. Launches New Blog

Greetings from all of us in the FUMA Guidance Department. Today marks the beginning of a new era for us as we launch our own blog. We are hoping parents will check this at least once a week as our plan is to use the blog to pass useful information along to everyone at home as well as to the cadets at school.

There are several items of interest today:

1) For Washington DC area parents: The Lab School of Washington is offering the Kaiser Permanente Lecture Series for Parents on selected Wednesday evenings throughout the school year. Topics range from Communicating with Teenagers to Parenting Strategies and other topics. For more information call 202-965-6600

2) Parents of seniors and post-graduates are encouraged to visit the guidance section of our download center and review the SR/PG packet of information if you have not done so already

3) All parents are encouraged to review the College Application Handbook which is also found in the download center. While much of the material is of particular interest to juniors, seniors and their parents, it is never too early to begin thinking about college. College admission is getting progressively more competitive as the applicant pool grows each year

Thanks for checking us out, and we hope you will visit often.
