Chapel message, 9/25/08
Today's message centered on our civic responsibility to vote.
Today I spoke to the cadets about the civic responsibility to vote. I referenced Romans 13:1, 1 Peter 2:13-14, and Matthew 22:21.
I also encouraged those cadets who are not registered voters to go through the registration process, and those who are registered to go through the process to get their absentee ballots.
When voting, I reminded the cadets, we must let our principles direct our votes, warning against strict party-line voting and personality-based voting. I also encouraged the cadets to study candidates and their positions on the issues, instead of being led simply by advertising or influenced solely by peer pressure.
